Hasegawa [A10] 1:72 F4U-1D Corsair

The F-4U-1D Corsair was a fighter aircraft used by the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps during World War II. The Corsair's engine was considered state-of-the-art at the time and employed an air-cooled system (a method that uses air to cool the engine). This engine was very powerful, and to fully harness its strength, the aircraft was equipped with a large 3.82m diameter propeller. Due to this large propeller, a traditional wing would result in the propeller striking the ground. This led to the development of Corsair's distinctive inverted gull wing (resembling the wings of a seagull, but inverted). Thanks to this unique wing design, the Corsair could maintain distance from the ground without needing elongated landing gear.
