Description
The LTV A-7A Corsair II was developed as a carrier-based attack aircraft to succeed the A-4 Skyhawk. To reduce development time and expenses, the design philosophy of the company's F-8 Crusader carrier-based fighter was incorporated, and some of its parts were used as well.
The A variant was the initial production model, and it was deployed to combat units in September 1967. Subsequently, the aircraft evolved through the B, C, and E variants, with the final aircraft for the Navy rolling out in May 1971.
