The McDonnell Douglas F-15C Eagle is the primary fighter aircraft of the U.S. military. In December 1969, the U.S. military chose McDonnell Douglas to develop the next-generation air-superiority fighter to succeed the F-4 Phantom II. As a result, the F-15, despite being considerably larger than the F-4 Phantom II, was designed lighter than the Phantom due to the use of composite materials. Equipped with a powerful engine and state-of-the-art electronics, the F-15 boasts exceptional flight and combat capabilities.
Furthermore, the F-15C model, which began production in May 1980, has enhanced fire-control systems that allow multi-target simultaneous search and tracking. The internal fuel capacity, which was problematic in models A and B, has been increased. Additionally, canoe-shaped conformal fuel tanks can be fitted on the sides of the fuselage.
