Description
PzH2000 Self-Propelled Howitzer
The PzH2000 is a self-propelled howitzer developed in Germany as the successor to the M109 155mm self-propelled howitzer. The development of a successor to the M109, which had been deployed in Western countries since the 1960s, was initially a joint effort by Germany, the UK, and Italy. However, due to cost and technical issues, the joint development was canceled. Germany then extended the service life of its existing M109s through main gun upgrades while independently starting the development of a successor. The PzH2000, featuring long range, improved firing rate via an automatic loading system, and high mobility, was deployed to the German Army from 1998 and has been adopted by other countries as well.
